Nottingham Forest make Lodi their most valuable player - Second highest spending worldwide

Nottingham Forest’s 18th transfer of the summer is official. The newly-promoted Premier League side announced the signing of left-back Renan Lodi on Monday. The 24-year-old joins on a season-long loan deal from Atlético, where he previously extended his contract until 2026. According to Fabrizio Romano, a loan fee of €5 million will be paid for the 15-time Brazil international, and the Reds have also reportedly secured an option to sign the defender permanently for €30 million.

The Colchoneros had signed Lodi for €21.75 million from CA Paranaense in 2019, since then he played 118 games for the capital club. Valued at €4 million at the time of the transfer, the left-footed player had temporarily increased his market value to €50 million. Lodi is currently worth €30 million, making him the most valuable footballer in Forest’s squad for now. It is the English side’s second loan deal in the current transfer period, and the club has spent a total of over €157 million on new players, a figure only one club in the world can beat.

After Lodi left for Forest: Tottenham’s Reguilón set to join Atlético

In return, Sergio Reguilón, who occupies the same position as Lodi, is expected to arrive at Atlético soon. According to reports, the 25-year-old Tottenham defender will undergo his medical in Madrid on Tuesday, after which he will sign a one-year contract. According to information acquired by Transfermarkt, this deal will also be a loan, but without an option to buy.

Reguilón had arrived at Spurs for €30 million from Real Madrid in 2020 and made 36 appearances for the Premier League club last season. Now he is set to return to his hometown and birthplace, although not to his former youth club Real, but to their city rivals.
