Ramos, Skrtel & Co.: Centre-backs with the most goals per season since 2000

What do Sergio Ramos, Martin Skrtel and Naldo have in common? They are or were centre-backs and did not only help out in their own penalty area, but also proved to be very dangerous in front of the opposing team’s goal during their career. 34-year-old Ramos scored for the 11th time in Real Madrid’s final game of the season at CD Leganés (2-2) – no central defender has more goals to his name in 2019/20.

The Brazilian, who has a total of 358 appearances in the German top tier, scored 46 goals for Werder Bremen, VfL Wolfsburg and Schalke 04 – a figure that only Ramos can top by a clear margin with 72 goals in 493 LaLiga games. From the Premier League, Skrtel, Thomas Vermaelen and Joleon Lescott make the ranking.
