Kaká and Real Madrid both agree that they have to find a solution and, with just six days left before the transfer window creaks shut, this could well end up being a stopgap. Although Mourinho has refused to rule out giving the Brazilian more pitch time if he stays put, actions speak louder than words, and the forward clearly doesn't figure in the Portuguese coach's plans. "Kaká is better positioned to talk about his future than I am", the Madrid supremo said in his Saturday press conference.

"He knows his intentions better than I do. I simply try to get the best out of every player. If he's still here for the season on 1st September, I'll respect him and try to get the best possible performance from him, like last year", said Mourinho, when probed about his seeming reluctance to call on the Brazilian.

According to the Italian daily 'Il Corriere dello Sport', the Milan agent Ernesto Bronzetti will go to Madrid next Monday to resume talks with Florentino Pérez. The Chairman of Real Madrid will have had all weekend to think over Milan's proposal.

His counterpart in Milan, Adriano Galliani has made his position clear on the matter. He wants the Brazilian on a one-year loan deal with an option to buy for €15 million, to be paid over five years. Kaká has already agreed to take a 50% pay cut if the transfer deal goes through. Milan's offer isn't open to negotiation however – it's a case of take it or leave it.

If Bronzetti manages to seal the deal, Galliani will fly out to Madrid on Wednesday to put the finishing touches to the operation, and will return to Milan the following day to officially present the Brazilian as a new Milan player.

The owner and president of AC Milan, Silvio Berlusconi, was optimistic about Kaká's possible return to the 'Rossoneri' club. In an interview with Sky, Berlusconi stressed that Kaka, who currently plays for Real Madrid, is a "great player" and he has a lot of time for him.

"In football we're out of touch with reality, but I'm optimistic," said Berlusconi, who was less forthcoming about Mario Balotelli. When asked about the possibility of signing the Manchester City striker, the President of the Italian club replied: "I don't know, I honestly don't know."

Milan acknowledged on Friday that it had begun negotiations to secure Kaká on loan. The CEO of Milan, Adriano Galliani, said the Brazilian will return to Italy during the winter transfer period if the two clubs and Kaka himself can agree on one of the thorniest issues in the negotiations - the player’s salary.
