Premier League new-boys Reading have made an enquiry after Adrian Mariappa, according to the Watford Observer.
Following speculation earlier in the month that the Royals were interested in a move for the Hornet's Player of the Season, it is believed that an enquiry had now been lodged.
Mariappa is of course very highly sought after following a tremendous season at the heart of the 'Orns defence and has attracted Premier League interest from Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic as recently as January.
The Harrow-born centre-back is currently out the country however as he is on international duty with Jamaica.
Reading have finally been taken over today with Russian Anton Zingarevich completing his purchase of a 51% stake in the club. The new owner has been keen to splash the cash since agreeing a deal in principle earlier in the year.
